Well, yesterday was another great day at the annual Cal Expo Bridal Showcase. We were amongst some pretty great vendors. Hopefully you had the chance to stop by our booth. If you attended remember that you flyer entitles you to 100 free Save the Date Postcards with an invitation purchase of $600 or more. Big thanks to Jill, Lori and Jess who helped at our booth.
I first met the very talented Musarrat Afshan at an industry mixer where we both donated our services. Her desserts were absolutely beautiful and tasted amazing. Musarrat is a kind woman and you can see it the minute you meet her. She’s just the type of person that I’d like to work with if I were planning my wedding.
Musarrat and I have stayed in touch via Facebook since meeting at that mixer. She saw the sneak peak of Mackenzie Robert’s invitations that I recently posted and she designed a cake that was inspired by the invitation design. Love it!
Isn’t this what being an artist is all about? As creative people we visit museums, look at trade magazines and blogs and we travel to keep the creative juices flowing. Often we find inspiration in the things we see and like. Then we make our own authentic designs from that inspiration. Musarrat’s creative cake design is pictured below.
Recently Musarrat changed her business name to Pretty Sweet which I’ve gotta say is a pretty SWEET name! Check out her website www.prettysweet.co to see more of her yummy treats.
Just finished wedding invitations for a fellow wedding vendor and friend, Mackenzie Roberts of Chuck Roberts Photography! I’m dying to share them with you but must wait for professional pictures in September! In the meantime here’s an itty bitty preview….
Lucky me! The talented Merrily Rocco of Merrily Wed asked me to be a part of an inspirational shoot in Lake Tahoe a while back. I was so excited to work with vendors from my home town. Style Me Pretty featured the shoot. Take a look!

I admit it! It’s been a very long time since I’ve blogged and I haven’t done enough of it. So much to share and so little time! This is a start…
In July, for the first time ever, I was blogged about on the oh so popular wedding blog, Style Me Pretty! I was so excited to hear that this wedding would be featured because it was one of my favorites this season. Check it out!

Last night when I got home from the Bridal Showcase at Cal Expo I was wiped out but I was too FIRED UP to sleep! We spoke with 400 Brides at our booth (even some Grooms). Those numbers are amazing, right?! What’s even better is the wonderful connections that I made with those Brides and Grooms. I spoke to so many KIND people. It was great fun! Thanks to all of you for making my day!
For those of you who attended the show, remember to book this month to get $50 OFF YOUR ORDER of $500 or more. Just call or email to schedule your consultation. It’s going to be a great year! I look forward to being a part of your wedding planning!
Last January I had the pleasure of meeting Kelly Dalisa from Monte Verde Inn at the Cal Expo Bridal Showcase. Since then we’ve done a couple of really fun projects together. Also Kelly has been kind enough to list me as a preferred vendor at Monte Verde Inn. Yay! I love this place!
Here are some invitations that I recently made for them.
I designed these invitations for a wonderful couple…Marissa and Jeff Torres. They were married in the fall. Marissa encouraged me to post pictures on Facebook but I had a hard time capturing the shimmery paper in photographs. Today the sun was shining perfectly into my office and I was able to get these shots!
When I met with Sacramento bride, Lisa Long for our customized wedding invitation consultation she had such wonderful ideas of what she wanted her wedding day to look like. I have to admit that the way she described her vision for the event made me want to invite myself! Now this is not typically my personality. I just wanted to see what came of this colorful picture that Lisa had painted in my head. I can’ t wait to see the pictures!
For her invitations, Lisa wanted to incorporate Kente cloth from her fiancé, Manny’s home in Ghana. She also wanted to incorporate orange shimmery pocket envelopes and, to maintain a look of elegance, she wanted to add crystal embellishments. I had never done fabric invitations before but was dying to try them. Other wedding invitation vendors had told Lisa that they weren’t willing to work with her cloth. I thought I might be in over my head (yikes). Throughout the project (to avoid giving myself a heart attack) I reminded myself that it’s always my goal to give the client something that is uniquely theirs.
Working with Lisa was a prime example of the collaborative experience I seek with my clients where they are just as much a part of the outcome as I am. This creative teamwork resulted in invitations that I could never get sick of looking at (even after making 200 of them). The vibrant colors of the Kente cloth that Manny brought back from his last trip home still make me SMILE. Hopefully my photos have captured enough to give you a feel for the wonderful uniqueness of this project!
